Hare's Foot Inkcap (Corinopsis lagopus) mushroom in July at Jaquith Rail Trail in southern New Hampshire

Growing in the wood chips underfoot is a Hare's Foot Inkcap (Coprinopsis lagopus) mushroom. It is small and short-lived, but beautiful in a delicate way. Identification clues include upcurling glistening top with a brownish center, fine black under-veins, and a long thin and fuzzy white stem.
