lumbering in March at Townsend State Forest in northeast Massachusetts

The Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) Bureau of Forestry, which is responsible for Townsend State Forest, initiated a forest cutting plan in 2019 on the West Hill Lot (upper left corner on my GPS track map). In addition to selling lumber, the project is intended to invigorate the forest. Hiking is not permitted during active lumbering (not happening during my visit).
