Eastern Comma (Polygonia comma) in September on the lumber road to East Spruce Mountain in northern New Hampshire

There are many Eastern Comma (Polygonia comma) butterflies on the lumber road. This one politely poses for photos, with sunlight accentuating its color. Eastern Comma is distinguished from its near-cousin Question Mark by pretty subtle markings, such as 5 small black spots around a larger one on the forewing top (as opposed to 6 such spots on the Question Mark). Wow!
