woods in May to bushwhack through to reach the true summit of Snows Mountain in New Hampshire

The bushwhack, on the other hand, is difficult. Most of the way from view 2 to the true summit is through woods like this: moderately difficult to traverse. But, near the summit, things get nasty: lots of downed trees enclosed in a thick new-growth evergreen forest. I have to push through the tree branches slowly (because I can't see the ground my feet will be standing on), and then somehow climb over the zillions of downed trees (reducing my hiking speed to about 1/10 mph).
