Crown-tipped Coral Fungus (Ramaria abietina) in August on Owl's Head Mountain in New Hampshire

More friendly to us hikers is Crown-tipped Coral Fungus (Ramaria abietina). Identification is aided by the right-angle branching which gives a candelabra-like appearance and the crown-like tops on each branch.
