Southern Blue Monkshood (Aconitum uncinatum)

Here is late-blooming Southern Blue Monkshood (Aconitum uncinatum) -- named for its distinctive hood-like upper petal. This species is distinguished from other monkshoods by its hairy flower with taller-than-wide hood, 3-to-5-lobed toothed leaves, and 1-to-8-foot height (often leaning on neighbor plants). Note: all monkshoods are highly poisonous.
