Lacebark Pine (Pinus bungeana)

Near the park is a young Lacebark Pine (Pinus bungeana).

This import from China is occasionally planted as an ornamental because of its unusual bark: on older limbs the gray bark peels off (similar to Sycamore), leaving patches of green, brown and white.

The needles are three to a sheath and sparsely arranged on the branchlets.
