Eastern Comma (Polygonia comma) in July at Mine Falls Park in Nashua, New Hampshire

Another neat find is an Eastern Comma (Polygonia comma) butterfly. The tiny white mark on mid-wing that looks like a "comma" distinguishes this species. [The Question Mark butterfly has an added tiny white dot, but is otherwise similar -- wow, are lepidoterists fussy with their species definitions!] The overwing is orange with black markings.
