view from Mount Major in winter

Tom and Fred hiked Mt. Major (1786-ft; Belknap Range, NH) in February 2003.

Tom stands near the summit looking out over Lake Winnipesaukee towards Mt. Shaw (tallest mountain on the horizon).

That's Mt. Washington in white just to the left of Mt. Shaw.

Yesterday's ice storm coated the tree branchlets with ice and gave our trail a crunchy surface (we wore crampons).
