surreal winter landscape as seen from Mount Jefferson in New Hampshire

Eighteen of us hiked Jefferson in late December 2006. Sunlight slips past incoming clouds to glisten off Presidential snow. On the near horizon is Mount Clay (left) and the northern Presidential ridge: Mount Monroe (tallest peak) to Mount Eisenhower (under the sun flare). Mount Jefferson's summit cone rises to the right. Eerie lighting on this, the shortest day of the year!
