Len and Fred hiked Jay Peak (3858-ft) and Big Jay (3786-ft; Jay State Forest, VT) in April 2005. We took the Long Trail from Route 242 up to Jay Peak and then bushwhacked over to Big Jay.

The entrance road offers a great view of Jay Peak and its ski area. Even though it is spring here in the lowlands, we had to break through 3-6 inches of new snow on the trail up the two mountains.
