bushwhacking through snow up West Huntington Mountain

Chuck H. and Fred hiked West Huntington in April 2007.

We walked in the Hancock Notch Trail, bushwhacked up a valley, then followed the ridge to the summit.

The going was slow over deep snow (2-3 ft), steep up, thick woods, and postholing on the way down.

It took us 6.5 hours to complete the 2.5-mile round-trip hike.
