waterfall and mill buildings on the Lamprey River as seen from Heron Point Sanctuary at Newmarket in New Hampshire

Upriver are additional mill buildings and the waterfall that powered it all. A plaque says the mills initially wove cotton and later silk, with over 1000 looms operating at peak in the late 19th century. Today the mills are repurposed.
