Dog Violet (Viola conspersa)

Nearby is Dog Violet (Viola conspersa). This is a "stemmed" violet, having leaves below the flower on its stem. Identification is aided by the stipules (mini leaves below the regular leaves) which are sharply toothed. I catch a tiny fly in this photo -- friendlier than the mosquitoes which are now out.
