We drove to the end of Sawyer River Road, biked two miles past the barricade, then walked another mile on an old lumber road. From there we bushwhacked 1 1/2 miles up to the saddle and peak. It took us 9 hours to do the 9-mile round trip from our car.

From The Captain's summit edge we have a great view of remote Carrigain Pond and the rising slope of Mt. Carrigain.
