Millipede (perhaps: Apheloria virginiensis)

Along the trail we find a Millipede, perhaps Apheloria virginiensis.

This is an arthropod (not an insect) because it has more than six legs.

It is a millipede (not a centipede) because it has two pairs of legs per segment.

When upset (as being held on Dick's glove) it curls up and secretes a foul-smelling mildly-toxic poison.
