White Baneberry (Actaea pachypoda)

At the trailhead is White Baneberry (Actaea pachypoda). This wildflower is also called "Doll's Eyes" because the berries (white with black end spot) resemble the eyes of an old-fashioned China doll. The leaves are multiply divided and toothed. Each flower in the oblong cluster has very narrow petals and long bushy stamens.
