aqueduct bridge over the Gard River near Nimes in France

We drive out to visit Pont du Gard (bridge over the Gard River), the most spectacular part of a 30-mile-long aqueduct that carried water from Uzes to the city of Nimes. It was built in the First century and was operational for 500 years. It is now an UNESCO World Heritage Site.
